History of our Chapter

The MOMS Club® was started in the fall of 1983 by our founder, Mary B. James. The first local chapter was in Simi Valley, California. Word spread about the wonderful support that the MOMS Club offered and eventually we became an international organization. We now have over 1,800 local chapters across the country and in Canada and Great Britain! And new chapters are starting every day!

All local chapters are registered with the International MOMS Club Corporation. They all abide by the same set of bylaws and pay dues to the International organization every year. Each chapter sends a monthly newsletter to International and each President stays in monthly contact with a MOMS Club State Coordinator. We also have a local Big Sister who is our primary coordinator and help us with any issues the chapter may have.

Our local chapter was established in December of 2000 as the MOMS Club of Sharon, MA. We were "sistered" from the Stoughton, MA chapter. As of July 2004, we have over 50 members and are growing every month. We are currently only accepting members from Sharon. However, new chapters have started recently in nearby towns, including two in Canton and Walpole which our club sistered.

There are many ways to be involved with the MOMS Club. Volunteers are often needed for different projects. Every June, all MOMS Club chapters hold elections for the five board positions (President, Administrative Vice President, Membership Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary). Volunteering is a great way to meet people and help other moms like you!
